Large Goods Vehicle Driver

Getting started,  the procedure from car licence to Large Goods Vehicle licence. You must be 18 or over and hold a full car licence, (Category B)

CPC News Important .... IF YOU PASSED YOUR CAR TEST BEFORE JANUARY 1997 YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE MODULE 2 OR MODULE 4 CPC TESTS !

1. Send an email requesting an information pack:  lorrydrivertraining@talktalk.net

2. Receive Information pack via EMAIL

3. Arrange LGV Medical Examination, does not have to be your own Doctor.

    Doctors offering a reduced rate for the LGV Medical

    To download a medical form (D4) click here

    The cost of the medical can vary between £40 and £120 The average

     is about £65  Remember to take medical report form (D4) with you.

4. Apply for LGV Provisional Licence CATEGORY C. (Currently FREE) send completed forms

    D2, D4, and your existing car licence to: DVLA, SWANSEA, SA99 1BR.

5. Receive LGV Provisional Licence. YOU CAN NOW CONTACT

    US TO ARRANGE AN  ASSESSMENT DRIVE. 

6. Study for LGV Theory Test, (Modules 1 & 2)     

   1 day course is completely FREE when you book your

    5 day intensive driver training course with SRTS

     I suggest The DSA book:

7. Book Theory Test exam appointments, 0300 2001122

    Multichoice Test (Module 1, Part a) cost £35.00 

    Hazard Perception Test  (Module 1, Part b) cost £15

    Driver CPC Case Study Test (Module 2)  £30

    IF YOU PASSED YOUR CAR TEST BEFORE JANUARY 1997 YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE  MODULE 2 CPC CASE STUDY TEST

    Book a PCV or LGV theory Test on-line

8. When passed Theory Test, contact SRTS Limited 01392 46 2000 to arrange dates for:

    Practical Driving Course & Test (Module 3)

    Driver CPC Training Course & Test (Module 4)

   IF YOU PASSED YOUR CAR TEST BEFORE JANUARY 1997 YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE MODULE 4 CPC TEST

9. PASS LGV RIGID DRIVING TEST (CATEGORY C).

10. As soon as you receive your Full Category C LGV Licence you may 

      start lessons for up-grading to Articulated vehicles (Category C+E).

Training time required to up-grade averages 5 days.

THERE IS NO COMPULSORY WAITING PERIOD BETWEEN RIGID AND ARTIC TESTING AND LICENSING,  

( The only waiting period is the time it takes to send off your Category C pass certificate and current licence to Swansea,  have the Cat. C entitlement added and the licence returned to you ) 

Full Category C Entitlement automatically provides a Provisional  LGV C+E on your new licence

LGV exactly the SAME as HGV

Old name HGV  (Heavy Goods Vehicle)

New Name LGV  (Large Goods Vehicle)

 

CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE NOW A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER.

Your potential earnings should quickly recover the total cost of your training.
